Ami Saunders Ami Saunders, MLA is continually inspired by her clients' desires for outdoor living. Her gardens feel peaceful and calming, with a sense of being immersed into a painting. Using light, color, texture and pattern, her landscapes seem spacious, connecting indoor and outdoor living. She creates garden rooms that feel expansive which gives a resort atmosphere to the private residential garden. She holds a Masters degree of Landscape Architecture from Cal Poly Pomona, is a Bay-Friendly Qualified Landscape Professional, and completed the Master Gardener Program of the US Dept. of Agriculture. A note on Green Design: Saving money and resources is possible for every style of garden and landscape, and is an essential part of her design practice. All landscapes feature some aspect of green design such as low-water use, low-maintenance, water harvesting, natural fertilization, mulching and composting, use of local materials, and other environmental enhancements.Formative experiences include working on public Japanese gardens throughout North America, as well as Hong Kong Disneyland. Full Design Service Design and FulfillmentThis is our full service package. We offer landscape renovation of front yards, back yards, or entire yards, from townhomes to country estates. Ideal for - Homeowners with a landscape renovation project. Owners of an older Home needing Landscape RenovationOwners of a Newly or Recently Purchased HomeCustom Homes Under ConstructionProcess - The approach includes an initial housecall, a custom master plan design, weekly housecalls during implementation, and shopping for landscape plants and materials, furniture and accessories, for a total environment. Pricing - This service is offered on a lump sum basis for each project phase (Drawing-Implementation-Acquisition), customized to the size and scope of the project. Drawing - Our drawings are typically Conceptual Landscape Master Plans for front yards, back yards or entire yards. Drawings typically include a planting plan, light fixture placement, materials selection and green Landscape 2.0 solutions. 3D rendering services are also available. Implementation - Once you have developed your vision for your landscape project and have a drawing in hand, we offer consultation to make sure your vision comes to fruition. We coordinate with your installation team to make sure that the integrity of the design is upheld throughout the project, beginning with initial walkthrough and concluding with the final walkthrough. We monitor the implementation of your landscape project on a weekly basis throughout the installation until completion. We offer support in interpreting the design appropriately, so that neither you nor your installer are left guessing as to the design intent should questions arise during the construction process. Pricing offered on a lump sum basis, and is paid in weekly installments. Acquisition - We assist you with complete outfitting of your new outdoor environment, which includes shopping excursions at the nursery, rockyards, fountain, outdoor furniture, outdoor kitchen, and pottery showrooms, and the like to obtain quality plants and specialty items for your landscape project that are in harmony with the overall design. Items are purchased through Saunders Designs. Preferred Network - For all of our clients we make available referrals to our team of trusted, quality Landscape 2.0 installers for landscape, hardscape (such as patios or driveways), pools, outdoor kitchens, sports courts, ponds, waterfalls, decks, paving, and the other various features you may wish to create in your yard. This service is complimentary for existing clients and only available within the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area.

Coaching Service Coaching Plant Coaching Package - We offer a plant coaching consultation where we assist you with design, purchase, layout and planting of your plants in your garden, for any sized project large or small. On-the-spot coaching from your designer is available for other questions you may have for the landscape as well - so make use of the time you have us at your home to get a professional opinion of your outdoors!Ideal for - This is particularly suitable for those who wish to be involved in the process with a coach at your side, for folks on a budget, or for those who only need assistance with planting. Process - The approach includes an initial housecall, a designer sketch with a starting list of plant choices, a nursery visit for plant shopping, final planting sketch incorporating shopping discoveries, and plant placement on the ground on planting day. Pricing - This service is offered on an hourly cost basis. Plants may be purchased directly through our preferred nurseries at wholesale cost. Other outdoor items may also be sourced through our shopping service, as needed, such as pots, outdoor furniture, outdoor kitchens and appliances, arbors, umbrellas, lighting, statuary and fountains. What can you design for the outdoors?

We can design anything you wish to have on your property, as long as it is outside the home, including pools, ponds, waterfalls, patios, decks, arbors, trellises, pergolas, poolhouses, greenhouses, walkways, driveways, hillside plantings, boulders, rock walls, native plants, sport courts, vegetable gardens, vineyards, orchards, etc. No matter which style of garden you wish for, it can be green and sustainable.

How long will it take to get a design?

Typically our designs take anywhere from four to six weeks to complete. If you have a special event or wish to have a design sooner, we will be happy to expedite the service depending upon our availability. Just ask!
